The first hours with our baby

The first hours with our baby

The first moments with our baby must be one of the most difficult feelings to explain. In a good way, of course. One thing we can be sure of is that only mums and dads can describe that moment, because it's theirs, because they've waited as long as it takes to see and feel their little one in their arms and because their lives change and take on different proportions from that moment on.

However, we can't help asking: when your baby arrives in your arms, how does it feel? Having the first moment with our children is something truly exceptional and unique in our lives. Knowing if everything is all right with him, what he looks like, seeing his face, his features, realising who he's most similar to, his size and, above all, having the long-awaited contact with him, skin to skin.

We realise that it's difficult to describe, especially when we're talking about a mother having her first baby, where everything is new, the whole birth experience is new, feelings and emotions are running high and everything is summed up in that moment. Only those who live it can try to explain what it really feels like.

Today we're bringing you an example of someone who is with us on a daily basis and who recently became a mother. Essentially, we wanted to bring you someone who had experienced this moment and understand what it was like and what memories she has of that day.

So we began our conversation by asking her how she felt when she saw her baby for the first time, to which she replied that "When I saw my baby for the first time, I felt enormous happiness and at the same time relief, at finally being able to see, feel and be sure that everything was fine with my baby". Next, we wanted to find out how the first few hours with the baby had gone, to which our new mother replied that "The first few hours were exciting and challenging, although everything went very well, there were no complications and she was very quiet".

With a moment like this, we had to ask if any expectations had been created, and the answer was "I didn't really create any expectations, I was simply curious".

To end our conversation, we asked our new mother to define that moment in a word or phrase and tell us what the first hours with her baby meant to her. She began by replying that "It's an intense moment with the promise of a future full of love and adventures" and went on to say that "For me the first hours were a unique moment, a lot of joy, learning and discovery. I consider it a crucial time for bonding with the baby, with a lot of responsibility and dedication in order to fulfil the role of mother well and ensure the baby's well-being".

Without a doubt, it's a moment that will remain in her memory forever.

At Wedoble, we have daily contact with mums and dads who are about to have their first baby, or have already had one. There are different feelings and contexts we find ourselves in, but it's always a joy to see that one more person will be raising a baby and will have a new and exciting adventure ahead of them. And from now on, we want to wish the new parents all the best for this new phase in your life, a new member of the family.

Wedoble cares about the whole family, so here are some ideas for a Mother's Day gift, with some familiar items from previous collections and our latest acquisition, a knitted jumper available in a few colours that you'll find throughout the spring and summer collection.
